Boyd Allen Headshot

Boyd Allen, MS, LPC, NCC, ASAT, AMAT-Tech

I have been a husband for over 20 years, a father for almost 15, and a goofball for 40+ now. I’m a lifelong learner who loves traveling (especially with my kids), music (especially the blues), and the intersection of science and art. Other interests include sports, philosophy, strategy board games, psychology, sleight-of-hand magic, and the Oxford comma.

I attended Evangel University for my Bachelor’s of Science in Human Services, and received my Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Missouri State University.  I have trained under Dr. Patrick Carnes through the International Institute for Trauma and Addiction Professionals (IITAP) and have received both my ASAT® and AMAT-Tech certifications there.  I have additional training in EMDR through The Institute of Creative Mindfulness (an EMDRIA-approved training partner)

After almost 20 years working in the engineering field, trauma therapy is my second career and my true calling.  Walking with trauma survivors on their healing journey never gets old.  With over a decade of experience now (both personal and professional) in recovery work, I am especially drawn to working with those who are experiencing problematic and compulsive sexual behaviors.

It is my genuine honor to be a trauma therapist.  In his incredible book, Brian C. Miller says:

If you learn how to laugh, think, and cry every day in your work as a trauma therapist then you are going to have a very special career.”

I consider my career special indeed.
